Help Your Child Learn Math

U.S. Department of Education takes the initiative to help your child learn math, and provides proven ideas and hands-on activities for families to help their children succeed in math. All you need is simple and easy-to-find materials. Here’s an example for Grades K-2:

Newspaper numbers. Help your child look for numbers 1 to 100 in the newspaper. Cut the numbers out and glue them in numerical order onto a large piece of paper. For children who cannot count to 100 or recognize numbers that large, only collect up to the number they do know. Have your child say the numbers to you and practice counting up to that number.

All the math activities are designed according to year levels. It also provides tips for helping your child achieve in Math at school. It’s worth bookmarking and taking some time to play these activities with your child at home in order to develop their math skills.

    There are wonderful ways to help children develope math concepts in Early Childhood. This subject is very important to me as an educator and a adult child who still has nightmares about math in grade school. It is important for children to have games and activities that make math concepts visual, tactile and interactive.
