Treasure Hunt - Simple & Fun
When my daughter was studying at preschool, she liked a game that taught by her teacher. Nearly every week she would ask me to play this game with her at home. That is Treasure Hunt – a simple version. It’s not the complicated one as Amazing Race. If you have a preschooler, you can play this game with him/her when he/she feels bored.
The idea of this game is very simple:
- Select anything you like at home. It could be a spoon, a toy, a pencil, a rubber, a book… Yes, just anything – that is the treasure you’re going to hide.
- Ask your child to close his/her eyes for one or two minutes. If your child doesn’t like to close his/her eyes, you can just ask him/her to turn his back. Remember, no cheating ! Then you hide the treasure thing somewhere. It could be under a tablecloth, or in a basker. But I don’t recommend a drawer in kitchen for the sake of safety.
- Then you ask your child to look for it. You know what? Whenever my daughter opened her eyes and began to look for her treasure, she’s very excited.
- While your child is looking for the treasure, you have to say these words, “cold” for getting far away from the treasure, or “warm” for getting close, or “hot” for getting closer to it.
- At the moment your child finds the treasure, he/she will have a sense of achievement and excitement. My daughter always asked for her turn to hide the treasure and wanted me to look for it.
- This game is simple and fun. We played this game when I finished cooking dinner, and waited for my husband back home, or in holidays we invited some of my daughter’s friend to play together. They just loved it.
