Tips on Teaching a Baby To Talk

How does a baby learn to talk? Imagine how you’d feel when your baby utters the word of “Dada” or “mama”. According to PsychologyToday, if you’d like to teach your baby to say the word you want him/her to say, here are the tips :

First, pick an eye-catching object.

Then highlight the object by looking at it or pointing to it.

Finally, repeat the name of the object at least five times.

Your infant may remain silent after this coaching session–but that doesn’t mean she didn’t get it. “Even 12-month-olds who can’t say a thing show that they have learned the new word,” says Golinkoff. When you say the name of the object, her research shows, babies will stare at it longer than at an unnamed object.

If your baby is about 12 months old, he/she should be approaching the verbal stage. By using the tips above, you are facilitating your baby’s language development. Other than the mentioned tips, what methods do/did you use to help your baby learn to speak? Feel free to email me.
