A Funny Way to Know How Children Think

While surfing, I found a very funny website, I Used To Believe, collecting heaps of bizarre ideas that adults thought were true when they were children. Browsing these entries, I just feel it’s an enjoyable way to understand our children’s thinking and reasoning from a different angle. Below are some of my favorite entries:

Children are so curious and imaginative about their body parts:

I use to believe that belly buttons was a hole where you had a button that you wee born with and the button was the color of your birthstone so I used to try and look inside my belly button to find the leftovers that the doctor forgot to take out when I was born (Anon)

No wonder we can’t make our children eat certain foods sometimes:

When I was little, I was eating a banana when a family friend told me the little brown “seeds” inside were actually spider eggs. I didn’t eat bananas for years. (Wendy)

When I was 6, a fellow classmate told me that the tapioca in pudding was frog eyeballs. I didn’t eat tapioca pudding for a long time. (Marisunshine)

What is more, you can add your own ideas to the site.
