Great tip! : )

Normally I go for a rice cooker. It's foolproof. Mine is a Panasonic brand, similiar to this one:

Although it takes longer time, about 40-45 mins, it's not bad. If I want to cook rice quickly for my guests, I'll use boiling water with the rinsed rice to shorten the cooking time. Lovely !

Not that I am trying to brag about <a href="http://www.tatungusa.com/tatungusa/products_services/products/consumer/rice_cooker/regular.htm" rel="nofollow">Tatung's rice cooker</a>. But it's something no Taiwanese Chinese can live without when we live overseas. Just do the following:
1. Rinse rice
2. Soak in water for 5 min
3. For every cup of rice, pour 2 cups of water in the rice
3. Pour one cup of water on the interior steam area
4. Set the steam cooker and done. (When the rice is done cooking, the switch lever unclicks itself to "off" position.)

It takes about 20 minutes to cook the rice and probably takes up less watt. :)

The good thing about this little device is the fact that it's a steamer, so you can practically steam anything in it (fish, porridge [simply give 4 cups of water for every cup of rice to make porridge], steam buns... etc. All done using exactly the same process!)
