This Micro Rice Cooker (via Popgadget) from Japan, with a nice looking, takes only 15 minutes to cook rice in a microwave using defrost mode or low power. Save energy, bravo. It’s perfect to make rice for one person.

I know the rice would taste better, if it’s soaked in water for 15 minutes before cooking and then let it stand for another 15 minutes after heating up in the microwave. You need a bit of extra time to rinse the rice of course. The time is about the same as you use a plastic microwaveable rice bowl. You might think its price is expensive, but I think some people would like to go for it because it looks more gadgety. Available now for $44 at Compact Impact.
