I grew up in a home where emotional blackmail was used. It really does do harm to the children that lasts through adulthood. Thank goodness, through counseling, I was able to confront and deal with the many issues that come from this type of manipulation through parenting. Sadly, my other siblings have not and I have seen them continue the cycle, hurting those around them with this emotional blackmail. Your children should always know, no matter what, that they are loved and NOTHING would ever keep a parents love from them.
