DIY Mosquito Trap

Mosquito is a threat to the health of every household. Australian government is very committed to helping us avoid mosquito bites and related diseases. And some traps are put in certain areas. When I stumbled across these flikr photos of DIY mosquito trap, I was amazed with the magic of brown-sugar water and yeast, much better than using any pesticide, because it’s eco-friendly. Originally the DIY mosquito trap was an experiment by a primary school kid with his teacher in Taiwan. Just in a week, they caught 1427 mosquitos with one DIY trap, and caught another 5000 with 9 traps. Hmm….why not put one trap in my house when the mosquito breeding season comes? How about putting one trap beside me and my kids when we enjoy BBQ in the evening? Would you think about making one when planning a party outdoor?

The instructions was translated in English and posted over at DIY Happy.

Update: Here’s a link to the website of the Science teacher (徐佳璋 PinYin: Xu Jia Zhang) who coached the experiment.
