Lack of Sleep Impairs Learning
If you notice that your child has a lapse in learning, he/she might be suffering from limited sleep. Reuters Health reports researchers, Hairston and her colleagues, carried out a new study in rats and found that “skimping on sleep can slow certain types of learning” due to difficulty seems to arise from a lack of new brain neurons.
“Researchers had previously shown that limiting sleep impairs learning that depends on the hippocampus, a section of the brain at work in mastering spatial tasks. Past investigators also had demonstrated that when hippocampal learning occurs, the survival of new brain cells there is increased.”
Lack of adequate sleep is not good for the brain in the long run and slows learning definitely.
