Someone gave us a Homedics sound machine that has 6 sounds (including a heartbeat) and we turn that on when it's naptime or bedtime. Our little one knows that it is time to go to bed and can sleep anywhere. We have used it when we traveled and he didn't have a problem falling to sleep in a strange place. The sound machine is nice bacause it is battery or plug powered, is lightweight and easy to pack. An alternative to CDs is a sound machine.
