Chicco Night Light Soother
Have you gone through sleepless nights to soothe your baby back to sleep in the dark? I wonder if this baby sleep device might help.
Chicco’s night light soother is designed to be activated automatically by sounds such as baby’s crying. It projects soft night light that follows some music or relaxing nature sounds. Nice aside: it allows you to record your voice and replay it to soothe your baby back to sleep even when he/she wakes up in the middle of a night or when you’re not in the room. It requires 3 “AA” batteries, but not included. Suitable for ages from birth to 24 months.
Here’s some info about nightlights if you’re interested:
When your child wakes up in the middle of a night, he/she just can’t fall back to sleep again partly because of unexplained fear of darkness. Some parents think about putting on a nightlight in their children’s rooms but are not sure whether it is good to their eye sights. This article explains there’s no need to worry about nightlights affecting your child’s eyesight according to recent research.

My wife and I have an 8-month-old, who is a jolly little fellow but not a happy sleeper: terrible going to sleep, terrible staying asleep.
One of the many things we tried to help him be comfortable and sleep for longer periods was a device similar to this one. It is supposed to be activate by the sounds of his crying, at which point it lights up with a soft light and plays a soothing heartbeat sound.
This device was one of the most diabolical things I’ve ever crossed paths with - straight out of ‘The Exorcist’. The thing to remember is that inexpensive electronics like this will have terrible speakers. So, it played the sound of a heartbeat alright - but instead of a heartbeat it sounded more like an engine on one of the lowest levels of hell grinding up the souls of the damned. And this is supposed to soothe the baby back to sleep?? Scare/scar him for life would be a more likely outcome.
We got rid of it the next day.
The Chicco night light allows you to record your own voice. However, if the quality of the speakers/recording is anything like the one we had, then it is highly unlikely the child will even recognize your voice, let alone be soothed back to sleep by it. In our humble opinion, your little one is much more likely to get recurring nightmares from this thing than any sense of security.
Check it out in the store before shelling out the cash…
