HoMedics Relaxation Machine – Helps Sleep Quicker and Easier
Crissy, a stay-at-home mom to a 10 month old, got a hack on sleep gadgets for both infants and adults, and sent me this valuable info:
When our son was born a friend of mine gave us the HoMedics SS-200 sound machine as a gift. We have been using it since he was first born having the soft sounds playing while he was sleeping. We use the summer night sound as we are eventually going to start taking him camping and want him to get used to sleeping outside with the sounds of crickets. He now recognizes that turning the sound machine on is part of his routine when it is naptime or bedtime.
We have found that it is also useful to take with us when we visit family or friends. He has no problem sleeping in someone else’s house as long as he has the familiar sounds of home. We set up the Pack-n-Play, put the sound machine next to it and off to sleep he goes. It is nice to know that we can take him anywhere and he will sleep without putting up a fuss.
The SS-200 is just one version of the HoMedics sound machine and I believe is the only one with the heartbeat sound. It has volume control as well as a timer for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes if you don’t want it on the whole time the child is sleeping. It is powered by AC adapter (included) or 4 AA batteries (not included) and has six soothing sounds: Summer Night, Ocean Waves, White Noise, Mountain Stream, Spring Rain or Heartbeat.
