Tips For Coping With Stress

Everybody worries or feels stressful from time to time. It’s especially true to parents for many reasons, like having a new born baby discharged from hospital, feeling helpless with a crying baby, children going to school on the first day, feeling unable to control sibling rivalry…the list goes on and on. These situational problems happening outside can cause psychological problem inside. You may use Anxiety Test with 30 questions devised by Psychology Today to have a quick examination whether you have any stress or anxiety interfering with you life. Severe anxiety or stress can be crippling and should seek professional help. As for mild anxiety or stress, you can help yourself to lower the stress level. I know many people are very clever and have lots of coping strategies.

Here I share some of mine that I found they worked for me. Some of them may not new to you and you might have tried before. You can invent some more and share with me if you like.

  1. Share your day with your partner or your good friends who are willing to listen. Being heard is a good “medicine” to ease the stress inside.
  2. Have some relaxation exercise if you know.
  3. Take a warm bath. I found this method works for me wonderfully.
  4. Listen to some soft music. If you find rock music works, why not? Go ahead. Normally soft music can calm down and soothe your emotion.
  5. Have a look at your current diet. Check it out if it is balanced. Does it include enough vitamin B or the like? If you are short of vitamin B, you’ll feel more nervous and stressful.
  6. Cook oat with milk and eat when it’s warm. Mind you, not cold, is warm. You’ll feel tense, otherwise.
  7. Sleep. I like this one.
  8. Re-steering your mind and focus on the positives, for example some happy moments, things you are grateful for.
  9. Have positive self-talk. Every problem must have a solution. And worries do no good to your problem.
  10. Meditation or pray if you have any religion.
