I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism this time last year, and one of the symtoms of the disorder is insomnia. I dutifully followed all the tips listed in the "Commandments for Peole with Problems Sleeping" and still could not sleep peacfully thorough the night. For me, Tylenol PM helps me get a full night sleep, although I don't recommend doing this without talking to your docotor first. Also, be aware of when you take vitamins and other supplements. I have found that if I take any of those later than about 4-5 p.m. (my usual bed time is 11), then I have trouble sleeping despite the Tylenol.

I used to like to get up really early and stay up really late. With four small children in the house, that was my time. I've always been a writer, and when the house was quiet and everyone else asleep, I could do my own thing. I have finally managed to learn how to go to bed fairly early - 10-11 PM but the mornings are still a habit - I wake up at 5 or 6 AM and still enjoy my hour or two of privacy.
