Potty Cleaning Tips
Stefania shared her dreaded but funny experience in cleaning her Buny’s potty. Most parents, including me, would like to do other jobs if we can choose, rather than cleaning and dumping the sloshy contents on our sweeties’ potty.
To get the cleaning job easier, my mom got a tip that worked for her five children (haha, I am one of them). She used to put a little bit of clean water into the potty before letting her children sit on it. Generally speaking, the solids won’t stick to the bottom of the potty. It’s much easier to clean and empty it. I tried my mom’s cleaning tip, but sometimes small accidents occurred. As my own children would really want to go after having done the first bit, I knew that they hadn’t finished yet. But they were very quick to stand up and go. Sometimes their quick motions made the water and pee inside the potty spill on the floor.
Thus, I had to try another way to stop this kind of accidents. I put two pieces of tissue paper instead of water. No accidents happened again. The tissue paper would absorb their pee but prevent their poo from sticking to the potty. It’s very easy for me to dump it in the toilet.
I think you might have tried some other methods that work for your child? What is your way to solve the potty problem? Drop me a line to share your tips and/or your experience.

Thank you so much for your tissue tip. After the first poop in the potty, I immediately went searching for a solution and came across your blog. Makes clean up so much quicker! Thanks again!

My mom suggested Pam (yes the cooking spray). After cleaning out the potty just give the container a quick spray and put it back in the potty. That way there is not fluid to spill and you don’t have to hurry to put anything in there before they need to go. Just a quick spray and it is ready the next time they need it. Trust me it wipes clean quickly.

I am finding that as vigilant as I try to be I am getting urine crystals on the bottom of the potty, My little boy uses it on his own if he needs to go in the middle of the night (we do not have a second floor bathroom). By the morning urine has already started to settle and I cannot get rid of the white crystals at the bottom of the potty.
Any tips? Thank you.
