Tips for Helping Children GTD with Timely Results
Not only do we adults may have the problem of procrastination, our children also drag on doing something that they have to do, that they even agree with their parents to do. How do we help our children to get things done? Over at ClubMom Linn Sperry wrote some practical tips to replace nagging in order to help children get things done with timely results.
• Try breaking down the steps to the chore and presenting them in visual form. Create simple time-on-task strips by putting Velcro dots on a laminated piece of tag board or a paint stick…
• If your child loves to move about and picks up on auditory cues, try clapping patterns to keep him engaged during a task. If you are at the front door endlessly waiting and calling his name, clap out two or three patterns, and have him repeat them as he is getting ready. He’ll love trying to dress and clap at the same time.
Is your child a visual or auditory learner? Pick the tailor-made tips for your own child and adjust them to fit your child’s temperament. Especially for younger children, they do need parents’ effort to lead them.
